2024 Homecoming & Lantern Parade
This year's lantern parade toon place of Thursday November 16th and featured lights, music, hot beverages an the Dre Homecoming Court. The fun kicked off at the Yates campus at 6 PM. Famalies were encouraged to make lanterns at home to add to the lanterns students made at school. As in years past lanterns were hung along the walkways and available for students to hold and walk with during the parade portion of the event.

This year, as we have done in the past we will do a contact-less drive through event to remain within COVID safety guidelines. All Drew Students and faculty, as well as all East Lake residents, are invited to attend and create a lantern for the event. This year's event will be Friday, November 18th 2021, from 6:30-7:30 PM. Cars and bikes will be admitted to the event until 7:00 PM.

Lantern Drop-off and Pickup
Lanterns can dropped off at the school the day of the event, and picked up following the event or the following day. All lanterns not picked up by Saturday evening will be discarded.
If dropping off a lantern, please put the student's name and contact number or email on the bottom of the lantern.
Light kits for making lantern are available for pickup in the red box by the entrance to the JA/SA Building.

Route Information
Attendees will enter the event through the entrance to the faculty and staff parking lot on 2nd Avenue. The parade will follow along Campus Drive and turn left onto Eva Davis Way.
Attendees are asked to keep their speed less than 5 miles per hour.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, this is a contact-less event. Participants are welcome to join the event in their cars or on bike, but may not attend on foot.

Previous East Lake Lantern Parades
For several years Drew has participated in Lantern Parades in other neighborhoods. For the past several years we have opted to host our own event. Drew Charter School partners with the Villages of East Lake to present the East Lake Lantern Parade each year. Participants made their own lanterns in class and during Maker Nights in Drew's Makerspace. The East Lake Lantern Parade is a fun way to build community pride!
