Third grade students learned more about heat and how it affects our daily lives. Students explored how heat is produced, measured, and controlled. Students investigated how diverse materials affect the atmospheric temperature and what they could do to reduce the effects. Student planned and created solutions that will benefit the community.

Third grade students were able to learn more about experts in earth science and how they use their expertise to help others in the community to be responsible for the land. Students were able to learn more about the earth science standards involving minerals, rocks, soils and the numerous changes that can affect them. Students created interactive booths and brochures to describe how to take care of the land, the various problems of earth science and how we can reduce the harmful effects.
Dunwoody Nature Center Field Trip
Students were introduced to earth science standards by participating in an in-house field trip with Dunwoody Nature Center. Students were able to explore rocks, minerals, fossils, and create profiles of experts. |
Interactive Booths
Students created interactive booths for guests to inform them solutions to Earth science problems in our community. Students provide informational brochures about what guests can do to reduce harmful effects. |

Third graders engaged in a critical investigation of the importance of clean freshwater around the world and the effects of pollution on water. Students were able to learn more about these affects and chose different methods for raising awareness about the importance of water conservation.
